An elderly man was lonely and sad that his wife had recently been put in a nursing home so he called his favorite radio show to just talk. And they went above and beyond.

Meet Bill, a 95 year-old man from England. He is a daily listener to his favorite radio station, BBC Radio Silent. His favorite program is radio host Alex Dyke's mid-morning show. One day, he decided to call the morning show just to talk.

Bill and his wife were friends for 30 years, and Bill was taking care of her so much they just decided to get married. Unfortunately, Bill's wife fell and injured herself which required her to go to the hospital. Bill's wife needed more care than he was able to give and she had to go into a nursing home, where Bill visits her everyday. But Bill was still lonely.

The show's producer Chris Hitchings said the man's story broke everyone's hearts. "He called up to say he was lonely and missed (his wife). I don't think he had anyone else to talk to."

The radio station and Alex Dykes decided to order Bill a taxi and bring him down for the day to talk to listeners and hang out on the show for a day. Listeners called throughout the entire show just to talk to Bill and he warmed the hearts of every in the room and through the airwaves.

Check out Bill's story above.
