NMSU Adding Club Suites to Pan Am Center Later This Year
The Pan American Center in Las Cruces is nearly 55 years old. The home of NMSU will soon get a much needed renovation that could generate an additional $200,000 in revenue annually. NMSU Director of Athletics Mario Moccia joined SportsTalk today to announce the addition of suits and club seating thanks to an anonymous $2.9 million philanthropic gift.
The six suites and premium club seating will be located on the north end of the Pan Am Center with a rumored sticker price of $35,000 a year, which includes 12 fixed ticketed seats. Of those 12, eight will be theater-style seating, and a countertop will separate the four remaining high tops.
The club section will include a bar and theater-style season. Moccia did not have a fixed price for the club seating, but he did tell 600 ESPN that a $2,500 annual cost per ticket has been discussed. The new premium seating area will be about 17 rows above the court. NMSU officials expect to remove between 500 and 600 seats from the Pan Am Center during the renovation that is expected to be completed by December.
