New Mexico Teacher’s Sword Fight Club Leads to Lawsuit
A school teacher, and the principal, in Albuquerque, New Mexico are facing a lawsuit after a student was injured in what is being called a student "sword fight club". It looks like someone broke the first rule of "fight club"- but I think in this case, that's a good thing!
Students at Volcano Vista High School in Albuquerque, walked into their chemistry class in 2022 not knowing that they would soon be entered in a duel! According to various news outlets, the classroom was turned into a makeshift arena and were allegedly encouraged by the teacher to duel each other!
Well, what happened next isn't so shocking; someone got hurt! No, they seriously got hurt. The student got a deep cut, obviously from the sword fight. The student got a major cut on her wrist that sent her to the emergency room! The family of that student is now suing Albuquerque Public Schools and the teacher they say is responsible.

First off, this whole story is crazy; but to have the teacher fully encourage the sword fighting? INSANE! And that timer in the background? This was bound to get messy! What did the teacher think? That everything would go off without a hitch?!
This isn't the first time a teacher has been caught endangering students in the classroom; last year a Texas teacher was caught managing an actual fight club in the classroom.
In this case, the teacher was obviously let go; but the principal is also named in the lawsuit.
