New Video Game Set in EP Gives Off Heavy 'Max Payne' Vibes

Remember "Max Payne"? You know, the neo-noir third-person shooter video game series about Max Payne, a New York City police detective turned vigilante after his family was murdered by drug dealers? Man, the early 2000's were a wild time for video games.

The graphics in "Max Payne", by today's standards, weren't that great, but by God, in that time it was revolutionary. Apparently, early PlayStation graphics is a trending aesthetic- which is weird, but I digress. The new generation is craving the "retro" look of '90s/2000's PlayStation graphics and I guess it's just something we have to embrace.

I wasn't really a video game person back in that time, which would have been my middle school years. The one game I did play was "Silent Hill 2" and it was scary AF! "Max Payne" was a game my cousins would constantly refer to so I'm a little familiar with the game, so when the trailer to this game came up on my feed, I was intrigued.

"El Paso, Elsewhere" is being described as a "love letter to Max Payne" and is set in, well, you guessed it: good ol' El Paso, Texas. The game was announced during the Guerrilla Collective show on June 5 - marking the start of the E3 2021 line up. It's also a third-person shooter game where the action all takes place in a mysterious motel that’s suddenly gained 46 new floors, and they’re all jam packed with vampires and werewolves. The game is slated for a 2022 release and will be available on Steam.
