A New Mexico man just pulled a hat trick with regard to the 3 strikes rule, racking up his 3 all at the same time.

Ok, that's not exactly how the 3 strikes law works in New Mexico but this Albuquerque man did manage to do 3 way bad things back to back and could, possibly, be going away for good.

It all started back in May, selling Fentanyl to an undercover cop, but things really came to a head in July.

The official complaint says Nicholas Mares sold 5,000 fentanyl pills to an FBI agent. For whatever reason, it was a couple of month slater that cops attempted to arrest Mares and it didn't go well.

The FBI tried to pull Mares over about two months later when authorities said he rammed his car into the FBI’s vehicle and then fled with a child in his car. They said around 10,000 fentanyl pills were dumped from Mares’ car during the chase.  Mars was charged with distribution of substance containing fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute, and assault on a federal officer. - krqe

How endangering a child didn't get added to the list I don't understand but what he is charged with is enough to possibly get him life. If he had just sold the pills to the cop and called it a day, he would (probably) have been looking at a few years and a fine.

He went big though, in the amount of the drug he was selling and then caught with. The assaulting a cop charge isn't going to ease his sentencing either.

Parents Should Familiarize Themselves with These Illegal Drugs

Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to recognizing and understanding when your child becomes involved with illegal drugs.
