There's something weird going on in Oklahoma. Court records in Comanche County show that Patricia Spann,43, and Misty Spann,25, were married in March of this year.

According to police, Patricia is Misty's biological mother.

Same-sex marriage may be the law of the land but same chromosome marriage isn't (yet).

Mother and daughter were arrested for incest and bond has been set at $10,000. Incest is a felony in the state of Oklahoma and, if convicted, the punishment could be 10 years in prison.

If this story weren't odd enough (and, believe me, it is) there's another wrinkle to this story. According to court records this isn't the first time Patricia Spann married one of her children. She married one of her sons back in 2008.

A couple of observations here.

Don't people have to take blood tests before getting married? I had to both times I was married and my understanding then was it was to insure that the couple weren't too closely related. Did they do away with that? If not, they should bring it back, at least for the state of Oklahoma.

The fact that this woman had previously married one of her kids makes me wonder if there's not something more going on here, like some kind of welfare fraud scheme. I don't know how that would work. Maybe I'm just being hopeful because, as an Oklahoman myself, welfare cheats would somehow be less embarrassing than incest?

Also, based just on the mugshots, I'm speculating that meth has somehow played a role in this sordid episode.
