A Utah man says he was simply defending his family when he tried to take his neighbor's life last weekend. According to the "Salt Lake Tribune," Michael Selleneit told Centerville police that he shot the man living next to him because he was telepathically threatening to kill Selleneit and his wife. Selleneit also claimed that the neighbor had telepathically raped his spouse on numerous occasions. The neighbor was out in his yard last Sunday when Selleneit opened fire. Selleneit called 911 after the shooting and has reportedly been cooperating with investigators. His neighbor, meantime, is fighting for his life in a hospital.

Selleneit is charged with attempted murder and unlawful weapon possession. He is being held without bail at the Davis County jail.
