If you’ve ever looked at a ballot and thought, “Can we get literally anybody else?” well now one Texas man decided to make that idea official.

Back in 2024, a North Texas resident legally changed his name to “Literally Anybody Else” and announced he was running for president. The move quickly went viral and landed him coverage from outlets like USA Today, People, and The Guardian.

Now, the man behind that unforgettable name is making another run for office, but this time much closer to home.

A North Texas Mayoral Race Just Got Literally Anybody Else

Literally Anybody Else, formerly Dustin Ebey, has filed to run for mayor of North Richland Hills, a city in the Fort Worth area.

Mr. Else works as an animal technician at a university lab in Dallas and says he jumped into the race after noticing that current Mayor Jack McCarty was set to run unopposed.

The election will take place May 2, with early voting scheduled for April 20–28.

Yes, “Literally Anybody Else” Is His Legal Name

Else gained national attention during the 2024 presidential election cycle after legally changing his name and announcing a long-shot campaign.

The name was meant to capture a feeling many voters have expressed during major elections. At the time, he said:

We only had two options that were considered serious, and I wanted literally anybody else.

Else didn’t officially qualify as a write-in candidate for president, so there’s no exact count of how many votes he received, though he says he did find a few!

His Friends Still Call Him Dusty

Despite the eye-catching name on the ballot, Else says his friends and family still call him “Dusty.”

And the name change might not be permanent.

He says he plans to eventually switch it back to Dustin Ebey, explaining that “Literally Anybody Else” was mostly meant as political branding.

For now though, North Richland Hills voters will see a pretty unusual name when they head to the polls.
