The legendary singer has a lot of love for his home country of England but Texas was once running a pretty close second.

Robert Plant fronted Led Zeppelin for over a decade, had a hugely successful solo career, had a mini Zep reunion with his former Zeppelin cohort Jimmy Page in the 90's and then, in 2007, gave us the real deal. He has since made some waves in the bluegrass/Americana world working with Allison Krauss. He's also a former Texan.

During a recent interview with Dan Rather, who is a Texan himself, Robert Plant spoke of his love for the lone star state. During his travels, he fell in love with Texas, Austin in particular because of all the musicians that came from there.

He mentions Jimmie Vaughan by name but acknowledges the vast number of artists that came from there saying that, in Austin, there were "more musicians there per square mile than anywhere else on the planet".

"Even Nashville", he adds while saying that not only were there more musicians there but that they also had more attitude and a Tex - Mex meets rock 'n roll vibe. He loved it so much, he "moved in", calling the Texas state capital home for about 2 years.

He not only loved Austin, Austin loved him right back. At one point, a petition was making the rounds to have a street in Austin renamed in his honor. Hear what else the iconic rock legend had to say in the video above.
