El Paso is pretty consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in America and our neighbor to the north, Las Cruces, is right up there with us.

Las Cruces is the second largest city in the state of New Mexico, with a population of over 101,000 peeps. According to the Las Cruces Sun-News, Cruces was ranked 32nd in the 2017 Wallethub list of Americas safest cities, edging El Paso out by a few places. (El Paso came in at #38)

City Manager Stuart C. Ed said:

“Being the leading safe city in our region demonstrates our commitment to creating and maintaining a safe and comforting environment for our residents and guests.”

“But we are striving to do better. I compliment the women and men of the Las Cruces Police Department for their commitment to duty. Through their efforts and public partnership through the principles of community policing, we will continue to improve our service delivery." - Las Cruces Sun News

Wallethub created their list by ranking 182 cities against 35 key safety indicators. You can read the entire "Safest Cities List" here.
