LaDainian Tomlinson Announces $500k Grant For Middle Schools

In association with the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, Kellogg's and The Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation, NFL Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson and Tony the Tiger himself announced a total donation of $500,000 to help give more middle school kids access to sports.

Mission Tiger, an incentive from Kellogg's to help middle school athletics nationwide, stopped at Wiggs Middle School this morning to make the announcement and proceeded to deliver the news to different middle schools in El Paso.

When LT showed the goods he had to give away, he was greeted by a hoard of screaming kids:

Not only is Tomlinson a Sun Bowl alum, but he’s also responsible for shattering the FBS record for most rushing yards in a single game with 406 against UTEP in 1999. The record stood until 2014 when Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon rushed for 408 yards.

Tomlinson even dropped a great nugget that he was actually recruited heavily by UTEP before deciding to play for TCU in college. He said he seriously considered playing in El Paso but TCU was closer to home.

And of course, Tomlinson had to drop a shoutout to Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones:

In August, Tony the Tiger was announced as the title sponsor of the Sun Bowl and in less than three weeks, Arizona State (7-5) will face Florida State (6-6).
