Enter Our KLAQ BBQ Backyard Griller Competition: Best Burger

BBQShow us your buns! Well your burger buns, because we are looking to crown the best backyard burger griller at the KLAQ BBQ. You know backyard cookouts can bring out the household chef in many people, and that is exactly who we are looking for.

Here is how the competition is going to work:

KLAQ BBQ BACKYARD GRILLERS COMPETITION RULES

1. All Backyard Grillers will be competing at the same time.

Competitors can begin preparing their burgers at 10 a.m.

Competitors MUST be ready to present their burger to judges at 2 p.m.

2. Factors that will be judged:

• Overall Taste
• Presentation: appearance, aroma, color (Unique elements and creativity)
• 70% of the score will result from overall taste; the remaining 30% will be based
  on presentation.

3. Category:

For the KLAQ BBQ, there will be only ONE category – your BEST burger.

4. Judging:

We are going to do a blind taste test. We will then create a point scale based on a 1 to 5 (5 is the highest). Points will be awarded per category. Trophies and prizes will be awarded per category.

First Place: $500

Second Place: $250

Third Place: $100

What You Need to Know:

You can prepare your items in advance or on-site.

All items must be cooked on-site. You can bring your own grill or get one from Wet N' Wild, but you can only rent charcoal.

You must create one presentation plate of your choice, for presentation
purposes only. This would include your side dishes and garnishes. (Anything to
make your full plate look awesome and tempting).

You will have to provide 5 burger plates to use for judges for the actual
“taste” portion. These portions may be reduced in size, for example, half of a
hamburger.

Only 10 backyard grillers will be chosen to compete. Each competitor will receive four KLAQ BBQ tickets, to bring their prep/cheering group along with them.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS ON END OF DAY MAY 20th.

Contestants will be announced May 21st.
