Could Texas BBQ Joints Learn A Thing From Scotland?
A shot of a Texas BBQ platter purchased in Scotland and posted online isn't generating the expected insults and jokes. It may actually be inspirational ...
Teas is all about bbq and we're real picky about it and what comes with it. Texas bbq actually has German roots, believe it or not, but Texans are the ones that perfected it.
It's been through some changes over the years and a recent Redditt post has users thinking the next big bbq "thing" will come via the Scot's.
A Redditt user posted a pic of a Texas BBQ platter ordered in Scotland and it's got a lot of people talking. A typical 3 meat platter in Texas is 3 meats, (duh), generally chosen from a mix of brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs, sausage or pulled pork.
Now and then, turkey or chicken make the cut and you can usually expect potato salad and/or cole slaw and beans to come along with it. That's not how Scotland rolls though ...
We've seen variations on a theme before, but to put the platter in a bowl? To add accompanying pickled veggies to counteract the fatty meat? To finish with sesame seeds, a true indication that we're finding the bridge between 21st century Central Texas and 19th century Hawaii? - chron
Nobody is making fun of this though, in fact, Redditt users are raving about it. Instead of pointing out how "not Texas" this is, comments included remarks like "trademark that stat" and "sounds crazy good".
Suggested names included "Texas Poke Bowl" and "Cowpoke Bowl". Read the comments and add your own here. I wonder who will jump on this first here in the 915? Rib Hut, State Line, Desert Oak, Tony's, ... where ya'll at??
