You can find so much beauty in nature throughout Texas; from our mountains to our waters to out natural springs. If you travel to the small town of Wimberly, Texas, you'll find a spring that is considered to be one of the prettiest in the state. But while we admire its beauty, this spring is one you should not visit alone.

Texas' Jacob's Well is a true thing of beauty

This popular swimming hole is located on the Jacob's Well Natural Area (JWNA) that's usually open to the public 7 days a week. It's a very popular swimming hole not just because of how pretty it looks but how deep it is. The cave system located at Jacob's Well is about 140 feet deep. People ARE allowed to swim & dive into the caves but only with the proper equipment and personal there to make sure you're safe while diving.

Sadly there have been lives lost at Jacob's Well

Between the years 1964-1984, a total of 9 people tragically lost their lives while diving in Jacob's Well. Some of them were open-divers and attempted to dive to the bottom of the well and sadly didn't make it. While it IS possible to swim without the need of an oxygen tank, it's best advised to do it WITH the proper breathing equipment.

Thankfully there haven't been any incidents at Jacob's Well in 40 years, so the likelihood of anything happening is slim. Much thanks to the personal at the lake ready to keep its visitors safe.
