Irony: UTEP’s Andre Patterson Calls For El Paso’s Support As SMU Strips Ball, Scores [VIDEO]

Timing is everything -- including hilarious. Late in the fourth quarter as UTEP trailed SMU, 21-17, with the Miners backed up inside their own 5-yard line, Fox Sports Southwest chose to air a pre-taped segment that featured UTEP defensive coordinator Andre Patterson criticizing El Paso for not supporting Mike Price...as SMU stripped the football from the Miners in the end zone and fell on it for the game-sealing touchdown.

Forget that Patterson is right -- few recognize what Price has accomplished in his eight seasons in a program with little positive history. But the timing of this quote makes it as ironic and funny as it could get.
