Holiday Hours At El Paso Bridges Change, Bad I-10 Traffic Looms

The United States Customs and Border Protection office modified their hours of operation last month and will keep those changes in place into the new year.

According to the United States Customs and Border Protection website, these changes were first made for the El Paso Port on November 20, 2022 and will remain in place until at least January 7, 2023.

• Expand operating hours at Stanton DCL by one hour from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
• Expand operating hours at Stanton DCL by one hour from midnight until 1 a.m. Saturday through Monday.
• Expand operating hours at the Bridge of the Americas commercial import facility by two hours from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. through December 16. - cbp.gov

According to compltroller.texas.gov, El Paso has a total of 4 bridges for vehicles and pedestrians to use as well as 2 railroad bridges.

Judging by the absolute mess I see daily near and on the spaghetti bowl as well as down by the Zaragosa bridge, I don't see what difference an extra hour a day at 2 locations will make.

I guess they know what they're doing. I'm still trying to figure out how all the money spent and work done on the spaghetti bowl lanes leading to the bridge somehow made the traffic problems 100 times worse.

Bottom line, no matter what the CBP and/or TXDoT have done or will do, you can expect some MAJOR delays and wait times over Christmas and New Years if you are planning to celebrate the holidays in Mexico.

Ditto for those who happen to just be trying to get off I-10 and onto US-54 North or South during peak hours.
