Former LSU and UTEP guard Daryl Edwards was involved in an automobile accident in Houston last week that left him with multiple injuries including two broken legs, a broken elbow, as well as damage to his vertebrae and lower spine.

The crash occurred on April 7th at 2 a.m. when a gray Infiniti was traveling in the wrong direction on the Westpark Tollway early Wednesday morning. It collided with a Honda, killing a woman and critically injuring two others.

Investigators told KHOU11 in Houston that they believe the driver of the vehicle was going the wrong way for two or three miles before the crash. He was charged with intoxicated manslaughter.

Edwards began his playing career at Northwest College State and then moved to LSU for two seasons before he arrived in El Paso in 2019 as a grad transfer for head coach Rodney Terry. He averaged 12.5 points per game in his only season at UTEP, including a 34-point effort against Rice on February 22nd, 2020. He was set to leave next month to play pro basketball overseas.

The Go Fund Me page that was set up for Edwards has a goal of $80,000 and as of the writing of this story, $5,870 has been raised by 66 donors.
