Last night’s (May 19) season finale of ‘Saturday Night Live’ lived up to the hype – at least for music fans. The legendary Mick Jagger returned to the show to host in addition to performing a bevy of all-star music performances including songs with Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire and guitar great Jeff Beck.

Foo Fighters, who were in town for their headlining gig at the annual Bamboozle Festival at Asbury Park in New Jersey, joined Jagger onstage for a two song Rolling Stones medley of ‘19th Nervous Breakdown’ and ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It).’

Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins and the Foos were a perfect backing band for Jagger, matching his high energy note for note and seemingly having a blast playing together. Grohl provided back-up vocals throughout the medley as well.

The Foo Fighters arrived for their special SNL appearance via helicopter after their 20 song set at Bamboozle that kicked off with ‘All My Life’ and ended with ‘Everlong.’ A band that always gives 100 percent on stage, they definitely saved enough gas in their tanks for their performance with Jagger.
