I'm probably the last person to be writing about Valentine's Day; I've been single for far too long. That does not stop me from loving Valentine's Day. The chocolate, the flowers, all the love going around; I'm a romantic at heart. But I also have a spooky heart.

Now, it shouldn't be a surprise anymore that I love horror movies and I feel like Valentine's day is a great day to watch horror films. Of course, I don't really need a reason to watch horror movies but Valentine's Day is a great time.  Love itself can be very scary and can sometimes turn deadly. So order yourself some pizza, situate yourself on a comfortable couch and check out my recommended list of horror films to watch on this day of bloody love!

Valentine (2001)

Remember the kid everyone ignored on Valentine's Day? Well, he remembers you. It's bloody, it's full of screams and it's cheesy, but it's the perfect way to kick off your horror movie night. Also, it has one of my favorite Valentine's poems: "Roses are red, violets are blue, they'll need dental records to identify you."

My Bloody Valentine (1981)

Valentine's day can be really scary in some towns, especially when there's a murderer on the loose. It's full of love and gore.

Pontypool (2008)

On Valentine's Day, this radio DJ hears reports of a virus that turns people into zombies, he then barricades himself in the radio booth and tries to figure out a way to warn his listeners about the virus and its unlikely mode of transmission.

Ready or Not (2019)

Sometimes, family can be the real killer of relationships. Grace is so happy when she marries the man of her dreams but must now survive the night as her in-laws play a deadly game.

The Love Witch (2016)

A film with a visual style that pays tribute to Technicolor thrillers of the '60s, The Love Witch is perfect for when you're feeling down and out on love. Come along for the ride as Elaine, AKA The Love Witch, is determined to find a man to love her.
