Fall is here -- at least on the calendar --and that means it’s corn maze and pumpkin patch season.

Visiting an area farm to get lost among the cornstalks and take a wagon ride to a pumpkin patch is an annual tradition for many families.

Beginning October 8 there’s a much closer option opening for El Pasoans who live in Eastlake and the Far East who don’t want to make the trek to New Mexico where the other two area corn mazes are located.

Located on on Nuevo Hueco Tanks Road, El Paso's Corn Maze features a 10-acre corn field cut in the likeness of the desert Southwest. In fact, they’re calling it “Desert Southwest,” that's how much it resembles the desert Southwest.

The design reveals so many twisting, turning pathways and lots of blind alleys that I fear someone may have to send up a flare.

In addition to the 10-acre corn maze, the farm also features kid-friendly activities like a Kiddie Maze, pony rides, pedal carts, a tire slide, and more.

Those looking to pick out a pumpkin or two to decorate their home with, or carve up for Halloween can take a train ride to Patsy’s Pumpkin Patch to pick out the perfect gourd.
