EP Convention Center Opens for No Appointment, Walk-In Vaccines

Starting today, anyone 18 years or older can show up to the El Paso Convention Center to get the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment. Even if you can't make it to the Convention Center, you can check out this list of pop-up events the city will be hosting over the next week to help get the vaccines out to the population.

• Thursday, April 29, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at El Paso International Airport, 6701 Convair
• Saturday, May 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Beast Urban Park, 13501 Jason Crandall
• Saturday, May 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at El Paso Artists and Farmers Market, 117 Anthony
• Saturday, May 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valle Bajo Recreation Center, 7380 Alameda

El Paso Fire Chief Mario D’Agostino said:

The City has worked diligently with our community partners to get the vaccine in our residents’ arms, and to improve the process so that we can distribute the vaccine with efficiency, as seen in our high administration rates.

D'Agostino coordinates the city's emergency management operations, and that includes the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. You can also still make an appointment through the city if you'd like. You can either call (915) 212-6843 or CLICK HERE AND HEAD TO EPCOVIDVACCINE.COM. The city's vaccine clinics located at 9301 Alameda, 7380 Remcon, and 220 South Stanton (corner of First and Stanton) will still be administering the vaccine as well.

Taking a look at some of the vaccine stats for El Paso:

• Nearly 40 percent of those 16 and older are fully vaccinated
• More than 60 percent of those 16 and older have received their first dose
• More than 70 percent of those 65 and older are fully vaccinated
• More than 86 percent of those over 65 have received their first dose
