Texas food trucks have new licensing rules and a new way for customers to spy on, errr ... research ... the trucks.

Food trucks in Texas used to have to buy a license in/from every city they wanted to operate in. As of July 1, 2026, the state of Texas started issuing a "one size fits all" license. This allows food trucks in Texas to buy a single license through the Department of State Health Services that allows them to work anywhere in Texas they want/can.

The new law falls under House Bill 2844 which also sets up a public database food truck customers can use to see a food trucks inspection results. They can also read up on any complaints against the truck.
