A local surgeon, Dr. Alejandro Rios got quite a reaction from Rep. Madeline Dean after testifying before the House Judiciary Committee. The local trauma surgeon had quite a horrific story to tell when he testified. He happened to donate his time on that tragic day of Saturday, August 3.  He had run red lights as he was on his way to help out at University Medical Center the day it all happened. The way he ended his testimony was heartbreaking to hear and left him scarred.

The main point about this meeting was focusing on protecting our country from assault weapons. In Dr. Alejandro Rio's story, he had mentioned he isn't a military surgeon and that the area looked like a war zone. If you haven't heard his testimony yet, be advised it is graphic and will definitely pull on your heartstrings. This trauma surgeon told his story to the committee with such bravery holding back his emotions. Roll Call made his testimony available so others can hear what he and many other responders had experienced.
