While we may not a lot of serial killers in El Paso, Texas, we HAVE had some of the most notorious & deadliest ones to come out of West Texas. We've even helped with capturing one of the worst serial killers in Texas history. Our history with serial killers starts with the most well known from the 915...

Richard Ramirez

Yes the one that we know, and the world knows, is "The Night Stalker", aka Richard Ramirez. Born in El Paso, Texas on February 29, 1960, he's been known to be an extremely "off" person around everyone he's met. While he did commit crimes in El Paso (like breaking & entering), most of his crimes were committed in Los Angeles, where he killed at least 13 people between 1984-1985. Richard would be convicted in 1989 and sentenced to life at San Quentin.

While Richard didn't give many interviews during his life, he DID one with Inside Edition in 1993. He even appeared on the Maury Show back in 1991.

Richard Ramirez would die while on death row on June 7, 2013 due to complications regarding B-cell lymphoma.

David Leonard Wood

While Richard may done his crimes outside of El Paso, David Leonard Wood committed all HIS murders in our backyard. Born in San Angelo, David would come to El Paso to kidnap & rape several women from May 13, 1987, to August 27, 1987. The bodies of his victims would be found in shallow graves in the desert over a 6 month span; between September 4, 1987, and March 14, 1988.

David would claim at least 6-9 victims during his crime spree;  he would be sentenced to death in 1993 but at the time of this writing, he still remains on death row at the Allan B. Polunsky Unit state prison in Livingston, Texas.

Angel Maturino Resendiz

"The Railroad Killer" aka Ángel Maturino Reséndiz has a unique piece of El Paso history. While he never killed anyone here (that we know of); he was actually arrested by a Texas Ranger in El Paso (Drew Carter) on July 12, 1999. Angel was suspected of killing 16 people around the United States. Angel was executed by lethal injection on June 27, 2006 in the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville, Texas.

R.I.P. to all the victims of these murders...
