Never Forget The Tragic Murders That Took Place at a Texas Blockbuster
Over 30 years ago, Texas saw one of the grizzliest crimes to ever occur at a Blockbuster. Those living in Dallas might be familiar with the name Leon Dorsey and what the Dallas native did back in April in 1994.
On April 4, 1994, Leon Dorsey would take 2 lives at a Dallas Blockbuster store
Leon Dorsey would walk into a local Blockbuster in East Dallas with a main goal: to steal the store's money. 20-year old Brad Lindsey & 26-year old James Armstrong, were working the store when Leon would pull out a 9mm pistol & order the 2 men to the back of the store where the safe was located. Leon shot both men when one man tried to flee. Leon would end up taking less than $400 from the register before fleeing the scene.
Leon would be questioned by the police after the police but they believed his innocence & didn't see a reason to connect him to the murders. 5 months later (on September 11, 1994) Leon would murder another person, 51-year-old Hyon Suk Chon, in Ellis County during another robbery. Leon would take Hyon to the back room, where he would execute her, by shooting her in the head.
Leon would be arrested again but this time he was found guilty of the murder of Hyon & the 2 previous murders at the Dallas Blockbuster. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison in 1995 before being sentenced to death in 2000 after it was revealed that he was the man behind the Blockbuster murders.
He was executed on August 12, 2008 in the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville, Texas, bringing an end to Leon's story.
Some people have tried to find where the Blockbuster that Leon Dorsey robbed back in 1994.
We know the Blockbuster was located at the Casa Linda Plaza, thanks to this interview with a former co-worker of one of the victims, William Hall who worked with Bradley at that very same store. While the Plaza looks very different to this day, people still have gone to visit the Casa Linda Plaza because of its "history."
While Leon is no longer with us, the remnants of his crimes are still talked about to this day. May the memories of Brad Lindsey, James Armstrong & Hyon Suk Chon never be forgotten.
