Texas is known for its infamous serial killers; some are so heinous & disgusting, their crimes become immortalized into songs too. Several killers like Ted Bundy, Son of Sam, John Wayne Gacy & Jeffery Dahmer have all been the subject of songs; here are a couple that talk about some infamous killers from Texas:

Joe Ball, The Butcher of Elmendorf

The Bluebeard of Texas, the Butcher of Elmendorf, the Alligator Man...all are coined nicknames for Joe Ball from Elmendorf, Texas. He became the subject of the song "Joe Ball Was His Name" by the extreme metal band, Macabre.

The Houston Mass Murderers (Dean Corll)

From 1970-1973, the cities of Pasadena & Houston, Texas were in terror of a man named Dean Corll. He would abduct & murder a total of 28 boys & young men before he would be caught. Two artists would write about Dean's crimes; Monte Cazazza "Candyman" & Church of Misery "Candyman (Dean Corll)".

Henry Lee Lewis, The Confession Killer

While the Confession Killer claimed to have murder over 200 Texas Rangers (he didn't), Henry Lee Lewis WAS convicted of murdering 11 people (including his own mother) & was sentenced to life in Huntsville, Texas. He became the subject of songs done by many artists such as Macabre, Nailbomb, Fantômas & The Paper Chase.

Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker

Ah yes...the most infamous serial killer from El Paso, Richard Ramirez. While his murders took place in California, he'll always be known as native from El Paso, Texas. Richard has been the subject of SEVERAL artists including one King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

As a bonus factoid, while this isn't based on a Texas murdered El Paso's At the Drive-In wrote about one of the most infamous murderers of all time, Jeffery Dahmer, in their song "Arcarsenal". I figured it was definitely worth a mention.

This isn't the only time that Texas, music & death would come tragically together; there have been several Texas musicians who have died on stage or from horrible aviation accidents too...
