While everyone was anxiously awaiting The Weeknd's Superbowl halftime performance, one former El Pasoan was even more nervous to perform. R&B artist The Weeknd was the sole musical artist performing during Superbowl LV's halftime show and fans were excited to see what the visual and musical artist was going to be bringing to the table.

The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, spent a whopping $7 million dollars of his own money, on top of the reported $10 million budget PepsiCo gave him to use. The show had all his hits- "Starboy," "The Hills," "Blinding Lights," and more but also an impressive 55 backup dancers joining him, according to USA Today.

One of those dancers sharing the stage with The Weeknd during his performance was El Paso native Donovan Gibbs. Gibbs is a graduate of Eastwood high and according to KTSM this isn't his first time onstage with some major superstars. Gibbs has performed with Janet Jackson, Tinashe, Becky G, Camila Cabello, J Balvin, Rihanna, and more. Gibbs documented his time performing at the Superbowl on his Instagram account, which has over 27,000 followers.

Donovan Gibbs currently resides in Los Angeles and is co-owner of The Bridge Training program. You can learn more about Donovan Gibbs on the KTSM website and see The Weeknd's entire Superbowl halftime performance here.
