This is starting to become a regular thing. El Paso being named an All-American city. Ten communities every year are recognized for their efforts regarding outstanding civic accomplishments. When the announcement was made on Wednesday, Mayor Oscar Leeser said:

I have always known El Paso is a City with strength. Being named a 2021 All-America City places us among the great cities of our nation and reinforces the tremendous spirit of our beautiful City of El Paso.

One of the main factors that led to El Paso being named an All-American city was the vaccine rollout efforts we had here in the Borderland. El Paso City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said:

This is wonderful news for our community which continues to be recognized for leading the nation. The Rockefeller Foundation and the CDC recognized us as one of the best in the nation for the vaccine roll out. We currently lead the nation by 10 percentage points on the number of vaccines administered. We exceeded the president’s goal to vaccinate 70 percent of our population with the first dose. We met his goal a full month early.

El Paso has received the honor of being named an All-American city in 2018, 2019, 2020, and now 2021. Hopefully honors like this can give El Paso a positive spin in the news, considering we've been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. The city of El Paso has been pushing the slogan A City of Strength, and we have this on the city's website:

In the last three years, El Paso’s resilience has been tested.  2018 put El Paso at the center of an international migration crisis, in 2019 the community was a target of a domestic terror attack and just when the city began to recover, the COVID-19 crisis descended. Even though the extent of these crises could not have been predicted, El Paso was prepared.  Prepared not just because of the emergency response systems in place, but because the community itself is engaged, empowered and resilient.
