A long time local loco is stepping away from the limelight.

Aftermath guitarist Bernie Esparza is hanging up his axe due to health issues. He broke the news on Facebook:

Ok well here it goes SINCE THE WORD IS SPREADING LIKE THE FLU. I will no longer be playing with AFTERMATH, I have been in AFTERMATH since it began me and Gil Alvarado have been keeping the band together after so many different band members we have been through a lot in AFTERMATH and have been there for each other through a lot of tuff times in our lives. That's why my decision was very hard, because of the brotherhood we have. But as my close friends know I have been having some health issues that have changed my life, and we have to listen to our bodys and doctors to take care of ourselves. I love my band and I've played with some of the most talented people in this band but, I cannot be selfish with what I want, I have to take good care of myself for my wife that's still is having problems from her accident and my kids that need me. I thank everybody for all the great times and all the support and all the new friends I have met being in the band. IT HAS BEEN AN AWESOME RIDE! I love you all! AFTERMATH WILL CONTINUE STRONG AND KEEP ON ROCKING! Who knows what the future will be maybe my health will get better and ill be back.as for now goodbye see you guys around. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Aftermath's last show with Bernie is December 30th at The Rockhouse. It's going to be an EPIC sendoff so, don't miss it!!
