Crime In El Paso Took A Double Digit Dip Last Year
The El Paso Sheriff's Department just released their annual report and crime stats in the Sun City are down by a pretty good amount - 14%.
Newly elected Sheriff Oscar Ugarte had some good news in his first annual report to the city, coming out of the gate strong with a double digit drop in crime.
2025 saw the El Paso Sheriff's Office, (EPSO), answer over 153,000 calls and initiate 45,000 traffic stops. He said EPSO also put extra emphasis on community relations, DWIs, illegal dumping and animal cruelty.
How Did EPSO Lower Crime?
From day one, our focus has been on addressing the issues that matter most to our community—public safety, transparency, accountability, and strengthening trust between law enforcement and the residents we serve.
Our deputies and detention officers have remained committed to these priorities while continuing to respond to calls for service, investigate crimes, and maintain a visible presence throughout the county.
As a result of these efforts, we saw a 14% decrease in crime within our areas of responsibility over the past year, a meaningful indicator of the progress we are making together. - EPSO Press Release Via KVIA
