Mosquito Season Hits High Gear In El Paso – Are You A Preferred Target?
It's mid - July and the mosquitoes are massing. Get ready for the onslaught unless you're one of those lucky ones that mosquitoes don't like. Here's why they're picky.

Mosquitoes live practically year round in the 915 but high summer is when they're at their worst. They're so bad around a good friends house that he has to call his wife from his car in the driveway and have her station herself by the front door to open and close it super fast as he comes in running.
On top of being super annoying, the little bastards can carry potentially fatal diseases. Some people are lucky though and mosquitoes avoid them. (Not me - F'n things love me.) Ever wonder why?
Why Mosquitoes Avoid Certain People
Your blood type apparently plays a role in this. If you have type "O" blood, you're at the top of their list. (How the hell they can tell, I don't know. I don't even know what blood type I have.) Those with type "A" seem to be the least favored.
Taste
Yep, some people actually taste better than others. Mosquitoes make their evil little decisions based on your sweat which is why exertion also makes you more bite prone. When you work harder, you sweat more. Pregnant women are a little warmer than other women which makes them more of a target too.
Clothing
On top of your scent, the little jerks use your fashion choices against you. Vivid colors like black, red, orange and cyan attract them. Green, purple, blue and white though, it seems, they don't like. (Don't worry - I never heard of cyan before either.),
Hopefully that post helped clear up the cyan thing for you.
Beer
If you drink beer, they like you more. (Which explains a lot in my case.) The beer does something to your body chemistry that experts haven't quite figured out yet. Meanwhile, I'm staying in cool, non - sweat inducing environments, in a blue outfit, (luckily, I'm not pregnant), and trying to figure out what my blood type is.
If it's "O", I'm going to try and have it changed to "A". Seriously, that's way more likely than me giving up beer. For a few more things those damn moscos like, click here.
