Those living near Walmart in East El Paso can order a covid-19 test by drone now. As COVID-19 cases continue to skyrocket in El Paso and hospitals are bursting with patients, many El Pasoans may feel wary venturing outside of their home, especially if they need to head somewhere to get tested for COVID-19. Walmarts in El Paso are trying to alleviate some of that stress by working with a lab and drone company to offer at-home COVID-19 testing kits for customers. Quest Diagnostics, Walmart, and the drone company DroneUp are partnering for a pilot company here in El Paso to offer these COVID-19 testing kits to single-family homes in the Sun City. The program will be offered to residents who live within a 1.5-mile radius of the Walmart located at 1850 North Zaragoza Road in east El Paso.

The program has started this week and runs Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Once you order your kit and it arrives, you self-administer the nasal swab test then send the sample to Quest Diagnostics lab in a pre-paid shipping envelope. Once Quest receives the sample, they will test it and you can get your results through the Quest Diagnostics website or the app. There is no delivery cost for patients who qualify and you can learn more information about the program through the Get Drone Test website.
