Trick or treat! Last year we learned that Sour Patch Kids were the favorite Halloween candy across Texas, but could a new candy reign supreme this year? DoorDash has released Tricks, Treats and Trends report, highlighting the most popular candies and the old school sweets crawling back from the dead this year.

Texas Has a New Favorite Candy this Year

It turns out Texas has a soft spot for sour gummies! While Reese’s continues to dominate nationwide, DoorDash’s report shows Trolli gummies creeping up as the number one choice in the Lone Star State. Sour, chewy, and a little spooky, Trolli seems to be the candy Texans are tossing into trick-or-treat buckets this year.

While Trolli took the top spot across the Lone Star State, chocolate has not lost its shine. Reese’s is still a powerhouse, topping the national charts once again, and classics like M&M’s and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars continue to be some of the most popular orders on DoorDash during the Halloween season. But there’s one bar that might just give them a run for their money soon: Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme, which DoorDash predicts could climb its way to number one before long.

What’s especially fun about this year’s candy data is the wave of nostalgia that seems to be sweeping the country. Old-school treats are making a comeback in a big way. Baby Bottle Pops, the candy every 90s kid begged for at the corner store, have seen a jaw-dropping 641% spike in orders. Warheads and Lemonheads, the sour candies that used to make kids pucker on the playground, are suddenly back in circulation. Even Dum-Dums, Bit-O-Honey, Necco Wafers, and the ultimate “grandma candy,” Strawberry Bon Bons, are finding their way into shopping carts again.

And here’s the curveball: raisins. The snack that once drew groans in trick-or-treat buckets actually surged in popularity last Halloween, with orders up more than 500%. Maybe Texans are slipping them into lunchboxes or grabbing them for a quick snack, but either way, it seems like raisins are having their own spooky-season revival.

Whether you’re team chocolate, team sour, or secretly stocking up on Bon Bons, one thing’s for sure, Halloween candy season in Texas is shaping up to be just as bold and unpredictable as the state itself.
