Here are some other flowers to avoid in Texas

A common flower to avoid is the Nuttall Deathcamas. Obviously you'd want to avoid it because of the name (the DEATH part might have something to do with that), but another reason is due to the fact that, if swallowed by humans, they can cause:

  • Vomiting,
  • Difficulty breathing,
  • Irregular heart beats
  • It can even cause depression or put you in a coma.

Lantana berries are another plant that is found in Texas. Unless you're a bird, DO NOT eat them. They've been known to be extremely poisonous to humans & most animals. It's important to note that its the leaves that are poisonous; you CAN grow them but you must be very careful around them.

Another common one is Poison Ivy. I don't think you need to explain why this is a plant to avoid; contact with poison ivy can cause rashes that lead to an extreme amount of itching. It's definitely recommended to wash the affected areas with soap immediately. Same goes with the Poison Sumac. Contact with poison sumac will result in a very similar result and one must wash the affected areas to help reduce the swelling & itching.
