Just after noon on Wednesday in the city of Pasadena, a huge blast came from the local chemical plant INEOS. Crews quickly battled putting out the huge flames inside the plant.

Harris County Commissioner, Adrian Garcia, said the fire occurred as liquid petroleum was being transferred from a tanker truck to a storage tank. Details leading up to the explosion are still under investigation.

County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez revealed one person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man is in a stable position but possibly received some burns from the explosion and fire.

Offices did alert the public and nearby residents that no danger was detected and did not issue a shelter-in-place. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo reiterated, “Our Pollution Control and Hazardous Materials teams will remain on the ground to monitor the situation and ensure there is no threat to public health or safety.”
