1 Injured During a Massive Fire at Texas Chemical Plant
Huge smoke clouds and flames were caught on video after an explosion erupted at a massive south Texas chemical plant.
HUGE BLAST FROM TEXAS CHEMICAL PLANT
Just after noon on Wednesday in the city of Pasadena, a huge blast came from the local chemical plant INEOS. Crews quickly battled putting out the huge flames inside the plant.
Harris County Commissioner, Adrian Garcia, said the fire occurred as liquid petroleum was being transferred from a tanker truck to a storage tank. Details leading up to the explosion are still under investigation.
ONE PERSON INJURED
County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez revealed one person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man is in a stable position but possibly received some burns from the explosion and fire.
Offices did alert the public and nearby residents that no danger was detected and did not issue a shelter-in-place. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo reiterated, “Our Pollution Control and Hazardous Materials teams will remain on the ground to monitor the situation and ensure there is no threat to public health or safety.”
South Texas is riddled with refineries and chemical plants. Occasionally fires and dangerous explosions occurred. Just like last year at a chemical plant in Wharton.
HUGE EXPLOSION FELT BY RESIDENT
Fire trucks were seen rushing onto the scene to try and put off the enormous fire at the Prime Eco building #3. Those nearby witnessed the horrific fire. One witness caught the scary moments on video.
The video shows the chemical plant engulfed in flames. Suddenly you see something shoot up, then hear a 'boom.' Seconds later another big 'boom' is heard as fire shot up into the air.
