Backlash, Risky Move to 4-Day School Week at ISD near Houston

Big news from Crosby Independent School District in Texas - they're moving to a four-day instructional school week! 

That's right, starting next school year, according to KHOU, Fridays will be OFF for students, but teachers and staff will be working one Friday a month for "staff development."

You know what that means - more Netflix binging and afternoon naps for the kids, while the teachers get some quality "professional development time."

But wait, there's more! 

The school days will be extended by 20 to 25 minutes to make up for the lost time, so it's a win-win situation for everyone.

Students get to enjoy a three-day weekend every week, while teachers still get to cover all the necessary material.

The superintendent, Paula Patterson, hopes that this move will attract more teachers to the district. 

Apparently, they've been struggling with a shortage of teachers, and what better way to lure them in than with a shorter workweek? Drugs? Probably. 

That's right, teachers - come to Crosby ISD and you'll get to work FOUR days a week and have THREE-day weekends! Who wouldn't want that? Fascists? 

But not everyone is happy about the change. 

Some parents/fascists are concerned about childcare and the impact it will have on their schedules.

However, supporters of the change argue that having four good days of instruction is better than five days with absent teachers. 

I mean, let's be real - who wants to sit through a class with a substitute teacher?

Fascists, that's who.

In the end, the decision wasn't unanimous, with four board members giving the new calendar the green light and three others giving it a thumbs down. Like a pissed off Roman Emperor. 

But hey, you can't please everyone, right?

So mark your calendars Texas communists - the 2023-2024 school year at Crosby ISD starts on August 7, with the four-day schedule kicking off in September. 

And in case you're wondering, New Waverly ISD will also be jumping on the four-day school week bandwagon starting next school year. 

Looks like the three-day weekend trend is here to stay, people!
