Burn Twice as Much Fat, Exercise in the Morning
Working out can be difficult. Getting motivated to work out can be hard. Working out early in the morning before you get the rest of your day going can be even more difficult.
But if you're looking to really burn some fat, you should work out in the morning. A new study from the University of Bath found that if you work out first thing in the morning BEFORE you have breakfast will burn more fat.
Researchers spent 6 weeks with 30 men who were overweight or obese. The diets and workout were the same. The only difference was one group worked out first thing in the morning. The group that worked out before they had breakfast burnt TWICE as much fat as the other group.
How does it work? Working out on an empty stomach forces your body to burn stored fat instead of using calories from food.
Both groups lost roughly the same amount of weight, but the group that worked out before breakfast saw drastic improvements in their overall health, including being able to respond to insulin which decreases the risk for diabetes and heart disease.
