BSN Sports All-Star Hoops Classic Tomorrow Night
Tomorrow night, 30 of the top high school basketball players in the area will showcase their skills at Hanks High School for the second annual BSN All Star Classic. The game will proceeded by a three-point shootout and slam dunk contest for seniors and underclassmen. Eleven former high school coaches volunteered for the All Star Classic, and they trimmed the game's roster from 70 senior hopefuls to 30.
The all star basketball game for local high school boys is the brainchild of Kenny John, longtime head coach at Coronado High School. He has been working for BSN since he retired from coaching and now serves as an ambassador for the largest distributor of sports apparel and equipment in the country. Most El Paso high schools get their uniforms from BSN and he wanted to give back to the players and offer them one last opportunity to showcase their talents in front of parents, friends, and college coaches.
Hanks High School is sponsoring the game and word is spreading about the rapid growth of the event. Soon, local girls basketball could have the same all star game and BSN wants to grow these high school showcases in El Paso. They also host clinics for local coaches and last month BSN brought in former Texas volleyball three-time All-American Juliann Johnson to speak. The clinic was a huge success and Coach John is hoping to host up to three coaches clinics each year.
The dunk contest and three-point shootout begins at 5:30 pm while the All-Star Game will tip off at 7 pm. Hanks High School is located at 2001 North Lee Trevino Drive. Tickets are three dollars for adults and two dollars for students.
