When did the band get together, and how?

I started doing the Strings of Atlas style back in college around 2005-6 area. I had been in so many different bands that I had eventually learned all of the instruments from having to fill in for people at practice. After college I started interning at the Sonic Ranch and really honed my production skills thanks to Charles, the head engineer. I also started my indie film career about this time and a lot of the songs that I wrote were the sounds I heard in my head for particular scenes. One day I came across a dancer (Sheena) who I just got along with really well and she started dancing at the live stuff with me. She’s also how I met Casey, the other belly dancer. Just been playing together ever since.

How would you describe your music to someone?

Funky, heavy, rock and Roll! Its like Monster magnet and the Black keys drinking whisky together at an Audioslave show. Yeah I think that’s about right.

Who are some of the bands that influence your music?

Dave Wyndorf and” Monster Magnet” for sure. I’ve been a fan of that doom, stoner rock sound they push for a long time. “Clutch” is really good and “Tom waits” seriously influenced my percussion sound.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

If we are talking about back in the metal days, the very first talent show at Chapin High school with the band Megaton still comes up in conversation to this day, man. So much went wrong yet so much went so right. Most recently though it had to be the one at the Garage tequila bar. The place was packed with people who wanted SOA not just some folks that wandered in looking for a cold one. Sold quite a few CD’s, made some gas money in tips, got to play the show with a live drummer for the first time in years and made a lot of friends in the Bandidos biker club. Great show!

Are you currently signed to any kind of label or management?

I’ve been working hard to get some management going on, placing facebook and craigslist ads, sending mailers to labels and radio stations. Even been trying to get the attention of EP’s own Jim Ward to see if I could convince him to be tour manager for SOA. Hopefully soon we can take it one step further in making a career of this.

What other bands have your members been/are in?

Oh man that was a lot of bands over a long period of time..It started with Megaton I think, then 2 drunk guys(which later became 2 drunk guys and a drummer) Portion of misfortune, Hecktic (las cruces) Eyes of 9(santa fe) filled in on bass for The Patmos Vision, MalCage Road(country music) and Dj’d for a while in Portland as DJ AC. I know there were a ton more but uh, my memory is..bad.

Sheena and Casey who make up the Atomic girls belly dancers also dance with the Arabian Chicks and do freelance work. And we just played our first show with Jake who is filling out the show with live drums.

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?

Vis Indigo, Patmos Vision, Red Queen Effect, Cheeky Orange, Pendulum Clock, Sweetest Downfall, Human Condition, A Beautiful Mourning, The Third Edge, Rug Burn (are they still playing cause they were sic)..Man there are some really good DJ’s and hip hoppers in El Paso too.

Where can people contact you to book you for shows?
