Arizona Native Hockey Star Has Shot at Winning Stanley Cup
Winning the Stanley Cup is the goal of every team & player in the National Hockey League (NHL). Joining the coveted list of Stanley Cup champions is what every professional player wishes to do. And anyone who watches playoff hockey knows how exciting & intense it can be. We've seen how many times Texas has won the Stanley Cup in the past (both as a team & by a player). This year history is looking to be made for the state of Arizona; they're looking to see their first born player win a Stanley Cup.
Which Arizona player has a chance to win a Stanley Cup in 2023?
After last night's victory against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Florida Panthers advance to the Stanley Cup finals. On the team is #19 Matthew Tkachuk (who the scored the winning goal to close out Game 4, helping the Panthers advance to the Stanley Cup Finals). He is the son of former Arizona Coyotes/St Louis Blues player, Keith Tkachuk & brother of Brady Tkachuk (who plays for the Ottawa Senators)
While Matthew grew up in St Louis (shoutout to my pops), he was born in Scottsdale, Arizona (along with this brother Brady) on December 11, 1997.
Who has Matthew Tkachuk played with?
Aside from the Florida Panthers, he's also played with the Calgary Flames from 2016-2022.
Obviously the big questions is WILL it happen. It's certainly possible. The Florida Panthers have been strong but... they will have a big mountain to climb. They only had one appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals back in 1996, they lost & have yet to win a Cup. So we'll see if they get their first for not only franchise history but for the state of Arizona.
