Apple season has arrived in the Land of Enchantment.

From now through the end of October, families looking for a fun excuse to get out of town can spend a day or the weekend picking apples at one of a handful of U-Pick orchards a short driving distance from El Paso.

Before the season comes to an end, Nichols Ranch and Orchards near Alamogordo will celebrate the bountiful apple harvest with their second annual Apple Festival.

The 2022 Apple Festival set for Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2, offers you and the kids the opportunity to breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy the mountain views the family-run farm located in the Sacramento Mountains offers.

And because the Apple Festival is all about the round red, yellow, or green fruit, you'll also find apple pies, turnovers, and cider for eating and drinking and raw apples for picking.

Like last year’s inaugural festival, the 2022 celebration will include live music daily, dozens of food and arts and crafts vendors from Texas and New Mexico, local breweries and wineries, a petting zoo, and other kid-friendly activities.
