If you’ve ever dated in Texas, especially in El Paso, chances are you’ve belted out “All My Ex’s Live in Texas” at least once after a breakup.

Don’t lie, we’ve all done it! Somehow, George Strait managed to turn heartbreak into a full-on anthem back in 1987, and it still hits every time you hear it.

While the original is iconic on its own, if you’re like me, you probably think it might need a bit of an update. And now, El Paso has officially entered the chat.

El Paso Finally Gets Added to Texas Classic

Kacey Musgraves recently gave the iconic song a personal twist during her Coachella set, rewriting the verses to include a few of her own Texas exes.

And yes, El Paso made the list. Musgraves didn’t exactly go easy on us either.

In her updated version, she sings about “some a--hole down in El Paso” who left her heart broken, turning the moment into one of the most talked-about lines from the performance.

It was quick, unexpected, and a little savage!

Why El Pasoans Can Low-Key Relate

As wild as that line sounds, it’s also kind of relatable. Because if you’ve dated in in El Paso, there’s usually that one person who makes a song like this hit a little harder.

And if you’ve spent enough time in El Paso? There’s a good chance that we’ve all dealt with one “a-hole down in El Paso”

Musgraves’ playful rewrite kept the spirit of the original alive while adding her own modern, unfiltered twist, and fans clearly loved it. The moment quickly made the rounds online, with plenty of people reacting.

Texas is big, heartbreak is universal, and El Paso isn’t immune.

At the end of the day, it’s all in good fun, but for a brief moment, one of the most iconic Texas songs out there got a little more personal for the Borderland.
