The 2026 World Cup is getting closer and so is the financial damage!

Between ticket prices that can make your eye twitch, travel costs that are already making fans nervous, and the reality of navigating one of the biggest sporting events on the planet, many people are already preparing their wallets for impact. So if there’s one tiny piece of good news in all of this chaos, Texas may have quietly delivered it.

Texas Fans May Have Caught A World Cup Break

A new study by ticket comparison site SeatPick looked at the cost of a basic World Cup matchday experience across all 16 host stadiums. Not luxury suites. Not giant souvenir buckets. Just the essentials: one beer and one basic meal.

And Texas avoided complete stadium sticker shock.

For the World Cup, Arlington’s home venue won’t officially be called AT&T Stadium. FIFA will temporarily rename it Dallas Stadium, and according to the rankings, it landed among the more budget-friendly stadiums in the tournament.

Fans are expected to spend about $23.88 for a beer and a basic meal inside Dallas Stadium.

Now before anyone says, "Twenty-four dollars is affordable?" remember, this is stadium pricing we're talking about!

Dallas Stadium Quietly Beat Some Major World Cup Cities

Context matters here.

The most expensive venue in the entire tournament? Levi’s Stadium in California, where fans could spend $34.24 for the exact same combo. MetLife Stadium near New York came in at $33.22, while Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium wasn't far behind at $32.24.

So while Texas isn't exactly rolling out dollar-menu specials, it did avoid joining the group charging "I just took out a small loan for nachos" prices.

Dallas Stadium also ranked among the cheaper U.S. venues overall, beating several massive host cities.

That may not sound huge now, but when you're already budgeting for flights, hotels, transportation, merch and a World Cup ticket that may require emotional recovery afterward, every little bit starts to matter.

Mexico Is The Real MVP Of World Cup Budget Travel

If fans are truly looking for bargains, Mexico might be where wallets survive.

All three Mexican World Cup stadiums ranked among the cheapest venues in the tournament.

Estadio Akron topped the list at just $9.77 for food and drinks. Estadio Azteca came in right behind it at $10.77, with Estadio BBVA also landing near the bottom of the rankings.

Less than ten dollars for stadium food during a World Cup almost feels like a typo compared to some U.S. venues!

The World Cup Hype Is Real And So Is The Budget Planning

Maybe it's because I’m already fully hyped for the World Cup, but this tournament feels different.

We're talking packed watch parties, fans from around the world, road trips, giant crowds and the kind of atmosphere people wait years to experience. North Texas is going to be one of the biggest stages in sports.
