Actor, and Texas-native, Glen Powell is everywhere these days! He not only seems like a pretty cool dude, but he's also proving that his heart is as big as Texas!

Sometimes in Texas, dreams aren’t just chased, they get handed to you in the most heartwarming way possible. That’s exactly what happened for Texas Longhorns linebacker Marshall Landwehr, a fifth-year senior who’s been grinding it out as a walk-on for years.

A Texas Alum Gives Back

The moment came during what he probably thought was just another team meeting. Instead, the screen lit up with none other than Twisters star and proud Longhorn alum Glen Powell! With that easy Texas charm, Powell praised Marshall’s grit, grind, and heart; the kind of words every underdog hopes to hear. Then he dropped the bombshell: Texas was giving Marshall a full scholarship.

How awesome is it that Marshall turned the spotlight back to his teammates and gave them some credit too? 1

Of course, the room erupted in celebration! Marshall cracked a slow smile as his teammates jumped up, hollering and piling on him in pure Texas football fashion. Head coach Steve Sarkisian made it clear this wasn’t just about stats, it was about heart and dedication:

This is the epitome of what we’re about.

For Marshall, the scholarship is more than just tuition covered- it’s the payoff for years of sweat, sacrifice, and showing up. For Glen Powell, an Austin native who once walked the same campus before Hollywood came calling, it’s a chance to give back to the team and the state he loves.

And with Texas ranked No. 1 in the preseason polls and Arch Manning set to make his quarterback debut, it feels like the perfect kickoff to what could be a storybook season!
