A Las Cruces Artist Hosts Donation Drive For Domestic Shelters
The Las Cruces musician Rivers Ventura has been making a name for himself in the local scene since 2020: he released his first single "Lollygagging" in April 2020, he won the first Battle of The Bands for UTEP's Minerpalooza in 2021 & his shows gather HUGE crowds whenever he performs.
The 20 year old local musician now he wants to give back to his hometown of Las Cruces by holding a donation drive benefiting both Las Cruces & El Paso domestic violence shelters this weekend.
Rivers will be hosting the "Give With Riv" donation drive this Saturday, May 28th, from 12 to 4pm located at The Range, 3217 El Camino Real Rd in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The reason why? One reason why is to honor his mother: "My mother unfortunately passed away last month & she had been a victim of domestic violence...in her life. She was always a huge advocate for these shelters & was always helping in anyway she could... I would love to continue that tradition that my mom started & pick up where she left off."
He continued on to say: "As a local musician, being a community figure comes with a lot of influence. I would love to use that natural persuasion to convince people to give to those who need it. I want to show our youth community that you don't need a lot of money to donate or organize these types of events... I want to show them that anybody can put together an event for the greater good of our community".
In addition to Rivers & his band performing at the event, there will be tables accepting donations of food, clothing items, toys, bed sheets, & toiletries include oral care products, diapers, menstrual products & more.
