I don't think that there's any debate that the most beloved ride at Western Playland is The Himalaya!

A couple of weeks ago I wrote an article on how much so many of us miss the former DJ's who made the Himalaya a rockin' ride! Apparently, it no longer plays rock music, I didn't believe it until I went onto TikTok and found multiple videos of the ride playing a different type of music.

Despite the ride no longer blasting Ozzy or Motley Crue, it's still the ride you have to get on whenever you visit Western Playland.

After doing some light research, I discovered that the Western Playland Himalaya has a twin in Amarillo! Nestled in Wonderland Park is another Himalaya which then led me to find out that there's lots of other Himalaya's around the world and one man is a mission to share them with the rest of us!

His name is Tyrone May and he calls himself a Himalaya Ride Enthusiast! On May's website, he shares an entire history of the Himalaya ride; for instance, did you know that the ride was designed in 1960 in France?!

The ride has undergone a few transformations to get to where it is today. And on the website, May shares many interesting facts, photos and even tattoos inspired by the Himalaya! May also the many Himalayas that exist around the world; but one is noticeably missing from the list: The Western Playland Himalaya!

There is a "contact" tab on the website, so I'm sure it's possible that we can suggest they add The Western Playland one to the list! I'm sure that many of us agree that it definitely deserves a spot on the list- and I'm sure many have memories to add to the slate!
