Daddy Nose Best won the Grade III Sunland Derby last weekend and is on his way to the Kentucky Derby -- all of which brought to mind one of my personal favorite stories. Enjoy these horses, and don't think they don't know what's going on! Incredible animals.
Sunland Park politics have made for some hilarious unintended comedy, and with the news that mayor-elect Daniel Salinas might not get to be mayor -- oh, those pesky restraining orders! -- the comic hits just keep coming.
March 5, 2012 The EP Times had a front page story today about the traffic circles, also known as "roundabouts," that are proving so controversial in El Paso.
I don't thing a roundabout is the answer to every traffic need and there's only one that I regularly drive through. However, MY traffic circle is the one the paper decided to use as their example of how "confusing" and "frustrating" they are. To this I say,"poppy-cock." This specific roundabout (at Country Club and Upper Valley) has the traffic, previously a nightmare, flowing smoothly and safely. As far as being "confusing"... and, I'm saying this with no hyperbole whatsoever ... a blind, retarded monkey could be taught to do it using nothing but a half a banana, a 5 minute session and some rudimentary Helen Keller-style palm sign-language.

February 28, 2012 In Sunland Park, New Mexico, things have gone from crazy to utterly cuckoo. After the arrests of City Manager Jaime Aguilera and Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Salinas, Mayor Martin Resendiz returned to work. Resendiz admitted to signing $1 million city contracts while drunk in 2008. Say what? This comes after a video of a lap dance led to extortion charges of the mayor pro tem and city manager. You can't make this stuff up.
