El Paso county sure has many ideas for Ascarate Park. It seems like not too long ago, they wanted to change the name of it- to which many thought they should just leave it as is.

Now, the county comes with a new vision: turning Ascarate Park into the next San Antonio Riverwalk! According to CBS 4 Local, County Commissioner Sergio Coronado says that the plan is to make it a tourist destination and build shops, restaurants, and other attractions along the sides of the lake. And, of course, a bridge would be built across the lake.

So what would be needed to make this happen? Well, the county would have to pass a $350 million bond in November for projects throughout El Paso. Of that $350 million, $71 million would go towards the improvements at Ascarate park that would see it turn into the next Riverwalk.

The bond won't be voted on until November, but I decided to ask our faithful listeners what they thought of the idea; mainly because I have never been to the Riverwalk- but I hear good things!

For the most part, many of you were totally okay with this vision:

Many thought that this idea was long overdue!

And while many though this was a pretty good idea, some couldn't help but think back to the last time we voted on something similar- AKA the Downtown Arena!

Many great points were brought up on this post, so we'll see how things turn out in November!
