Crista Martinez had been in Houston when she was stranded by Hurricane Beryl.  The reason she was in Houston was because one of her young daughters was undergoing treatment for cancer. Somehow, this is not the most tragic part of this story.  Why she so desperately needed to get back to El Paso is.

Five of Christa Martinez’s close family members were killed in tragic highway accident. Two of the victims in this crash were Christa’s two other young daughters. The other three were her sister and two of the sister’s young children.

This horrific accident happened on Sunday afternoon. The adult and four children were driving back from Houston, where they had been because of the surviving child’s cancer treatment.

Here’s the report our news partners at KVIA ABC-7. In the report, it says that three children died. One of the nephews initially survived but succumbed to injuries later.

The sister was identified as 28 year old Abigail Martinez. The children, not named, were Abigail’ s children a ten year old and six year old boy and Christa’s two daughters, ages nine and three.

It was a single car accident which the Texas Department of Public Safety happened after the driver, Abigail, veered into the center median, overcorrected and then lost control of the vehicle.

There is a GofundMe page to help with funeral expenses and that really is the whole point of this article. You can contribute to the Martinez family, by clicking here.
