White Sands National Park Open for Spring Break
If you're like me, & you can't afford (or don't have the time) to go out of town for Spring Break, well don't worry. We have our very Spring Break destination close to home, just only an hour away: White Sands National Park in New Mexico.

They ARE open for Spring Break this year & while they do have SOME things closed, there's still PLENTY to do (all following CDC guidelines, enforcing social distancing & wearing masks):
WHAT'S OPEN:
- Dunes Area/Dunes Drive
- Hiking Trails
- Picnic Areas
- Sledding
- Vistor Center/Gift Shop
WHAT'S CLOSED
- Backcountry Camping. Sunset Strolls also not allowed
- Park Ranger Programs: Includes Riding Horses/Stock, Museum & the Theater.
They also want to mention one more rule that they put in place on Friday (the 12th): "the consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed every day in the following locations only: Roadrunner, Yucca, and Primrose picnic areas, as well as the Group Use Area."
The hours for White Sands HAVE changed as well. They're open Monday through Sunday; 7am to 8pm. You know they get can packed full of people so, if you're planning on going, it's best advised you get there early. It is also DEFINITELY recommended you bring plenty of water, food, sunglasses & sunscreen cause it WILL be hot out this week & it's expected to be very windy on Tuesday.
